Correct. Actually, you turn off of Park Loop Road onto Cadillac Summit Road if you want to go to the top of Cadillac Mtn. Park Loop Road has one section that is 2 lanes one way; this is near the super busy Ocean side. Beware that people park in the right lane. In some places it is allowed, in other places signage states it's not allowed. Another section of Park Loop Road is just a normal 2 land road (two directions). Additionally, there are a couple roads you can use to cut through or shorten your drive to get back to town. We used Hwy 3 and Otter Cliff Rd numerous times, both accessible from Park Loop Road.

I am sorry, while we went thru the park I was not looking for camp sites so I am not even sure there are any in the park. If there are I would imagine they would be quit beautiful.

The road to the summit of Cadillac Mountain, as well as most of the Park Loop Road, closes from December 1 through April 14. So, it looks like November is ok. Randall

3-4 hours is a good number, depending of course on any short trips off road or meeting fun and interesting folks! There are seasonal times in the Summer where the traffic gets tough and May or September is always a target for my travels.
