Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Corbin Burnes left his start on Sunday with discomfort in his elbow, and that is the last appearance the right-hander will make in 2025.

Corbin Burnes will undergo Tommy John surgery, Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo revealed Friday. Burnes injured his right (throwing) elbow Sunday against the Washington Nationals and left during the fifth inning. He was placed on the injured list Tuesday with what was termed elbow inflammation.

Arizona will be heading into a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds over the weekend, but they will be doing it without their best pitcher for the rest of the 2025 season.
