The US FDA has granted approval for AstraZeneca's FluMist, a needle-free nasal spray influenza vaccine for self-administration.

FluMist has been sold at pharmacies for years, but now it will be available to use at home as early as next year.

FluMist is the first vaccine to prevent influenza that does not need to be administered by a healthcare provider, the regulator said.
