Mumbai: The father of Akshay Shinde, accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case who was killed by police in `retaliatory firing', has moved the Bombay High Court seeking probe by a special investigation team into the death. Anna Shinde, in his petition filed through advocate Amit Katarnaware, alleged that his son was killed in a "fake encounter".

The family of Akshay Shinde, who died in a police encounter while in custody, has petitioned the Bombay High Court for a special investigation. Shinde was accused of sexual assault and allegedly took a policeman's gun before being shot.

An SIT should be formed to probe the killing and the high court should monitor the investigation, the petition demanded.
