A new high-speed train connecting Paris and Berlin will be launched in December, allowing travellers to visit the capitals on a daytime service after the introducion of a popular night route.

The new direct train service will run daily and take around eight hours, departing Paris Gare de l’Est at 9.55am and arriving at Berlin Hauptbahnhof at 6.03pm. In the other direction, the train will depart at 11.54am and arrive at 7.55pm.

A new direct train service is set to link Berlin and Paris in a travel time of around eight hours, Germany's rail operator Deutsche Bahn said on Tuesday, with the first journey due to launch as soon as December.

The first direct high-speed train service between both cities will be running from December, according to Deutsche Bahn. It will offer a journey without transfers, with stops in Frankfurt, Strasbourg and Karlsruhe.

From December 2024, a new direct TGV will link Paris to Berlin in just eight hours, marking a major step forward for low-carbon mobility between France and Germany. This daily link, initiated by SNCF and Deutsche Bahn (DB), aims to meet the needs of business travelers and slow mobility enthusiasts.

The German and French capitals are currently connected by a night train route that launched at the end of 2023. Now a fast and direct daytime connection will be added.

German Rail (DB) and French National Railways (SNCF) will launch a direct high-speed service between Berlin and Paris on December 16.

The new train service will depart from Berlin at 11:54 a.m., arriving at Paris’ Gare de l'Est at 7:55 p.m.
