Last month, it was Alabama that shot itself in the foot. It was the reverse in the College Football Playoff as OU couldn't get out of its own way.

A stunning reversal, and then momentum basically kept going as Alabama rallied past Oklahoma, 34-24, in the first round of the CFP. Alabama advanced to face No. 1 Indiana in the Rose Bowl/CFP quarterfinals on Jan. 1.

The Crimson Tide added a field goal after the error and then capitalized on a subsequent interception for a touchdown by Alabama defensive back Zabien Brown against quarterback John Mateen to even the score by halftime.

Alabama's defense stood strong with Oklahoma's offense backed up to its own end zone, forcing an erratic punt that gave Alabama possession at the OU 35-yard line. Ty Simpson is back on the ground, losing 9 yards on a sack by Owen Heinecke. Simpson has also seen five quarterback hits.
