Things will look extremely different for the Florida Gators when the 2026 college football season rolls around. Aside from firing head coach Billy Napier after he posted a 22-23 record across four seasons, the Gators are also expected to lose former five-star quarterback DJ Lagway to the transfer portal.
On Tuesday, former Florida State defensive end announced he was entering the portal yet again. Griffis will be searching for his sixth college program ahead of his seventh season of eligibility, which he expects to get a medical redshirt to qualify for.
The 2026 FSU football schedule is taking shape. The Seminoles will host Clemson, NC State, SMU, and Virginia at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Former Florida head coach Urban Meyer was officially inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame on Tuesday. Meyer is the 14th Gator and one of just 237 coaches to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place during the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner.
Florida football will open SEC play on the road for the second straight season, facing Auburn for the first time since 2019 and the first time on the Plains since 2011. It pits a battle of first-year coaches, as Sumrall will face Auburn’s Alex Golesh, who led USF to an 18-16 upset over the Gators at The Swamp on Sept. 6, 2025.
