From Aug. 6, 1990, to May 22, 1991, Hardin was employed at the Fayetteville Police Department. In his termination letter, then-Chief Richard Watson said Hardin's efforts "fall short of the average probationary officer," and his "tendency to not accept constructive criticism along with indecisiveness under stressful situations" led to his decision.

GOULD, Arkansas — On June 6, the nearly two-week long manhunt for escaped Arkansas prisoner Grant Hardin ended. Hardin had escaped from the North Central Unit in Calico Rock on May 25 while serving sentences for murder and rape. He was found by Arkansas law enforcement and U.S. Border Patrol just over a mile from the prison.

Escaped inmate Grant Hardin was captured shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday, a mile and a half west of the North Central Unit where he was being held.

Crews have been on the hunt for the man for nearly two weeks. According to the Department of Corrections, Grant Hardin was captured in Izard County, not far from the Calico Rock prison where he escaped.

Hardin escaped the North Central Unit in Calico Rock on Sunday, May 25, in broad daylight, according to ADC. His escape unsettled communities across the state due to his intense criminal history involving rape and murder. Hardin was also a former police chief and had an extensive background in law enforcement.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections released a rendering of what escaped inmate Grant Hardin may look like with facial hair, over a week after his escape.
