Andrew Cuomo is trying to close ground in the New York City mayor’s race by escalating his warnings that “mayhem” would follow a victory by Zohran Mamdani.
Socialist Democratic New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani holds a firm lead among foreign-born New York City voters, while Independent mayoral candidate and former Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo leads among American-born voters,
A Republican congressman has called for an investigation into the citizenship status of New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. Florida Representative Randy Fine wrote on X that "we have clearly suffered from massive naturalization fraud," claiming that some immigrants "swore an oath to America but clearly came to destroy it."
He also wants to invest in preventative maintenance to ensure that fewer sheds are needed. It is unclear how much all of that would cost, but the New York Post reported in March that sheds at 130 city-owned properties had been up for more than three years.
The president and his team are convinced the Democratic candidate will defeat Republican Curtis Sliwa and independent Andrew Cuomo on Nov. 4, according to people familiar with the matter.
“I’m in it to win it,” Sliwa, donning his trademark red beret, told reporters during morning rush hour on Oct. 21, outside a subway station near his home on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. His wife stood by him as straphangers both jeered and applauded.
Newcomer Zohran Mamdani, age 34, has used social media and big progressive ideas to shoulder past Andrew Cuomo, who's 67 and long a member of Democratic Party royalty.
The Democratic candidate in the New York City mayoral race will need billions of dollars to fund campaign pledges such as free child care and buses.
