Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Aaron Ramsdale - and despite what some fans think it’s a signing which makes a lot of sense

Newcastle had previously been interested in James Trafford, but the 22-year-old has since re-joined Manchester City from Burnley.

Aaron Ramsdale has touched down on Tyneside ahead of his medical at Newcastle United's Benton training base. The goalkeeper, who will join on an initial loan from Southampton, is Eddie Howe's second senior signing of the summer after Anthony Elanga joined the club earlier this month.
