A third person who was injured in a Texas bar shooting early Sunday morning has died, Austin officials said Monday night. Jorge Pederson, 30, died as a result of the shooting on Sixth Street that also killed Ryder Harrington and Savitha Shan, Austin police said.

Just as bars along Austin’s bustling Sixth Street were winding down for the night, a barrage of gunfire tore through the popular entertainment district in the heart of Texas’ capital. Now, investigators are looking into whether the gunman was motivated by the US attack on Iran.

Two Texas students were identified as the two deceased in the Austin mass shooting. A third individual is expected to be taken off of life support, police said.

With primaries on Tuesday, politicians quickly cited the attack in their campaign messaging. Some Republicans called for stopping immigration, while Democrats called for gun control.
