Thousands gather in downtown LA for 'No Kings Day' rally
LOS ANGELES - Thousands of people gathered in downtown Los Angeles Saturday for "No Kings Day" demonstrations against the Trump administration. More than a dozen protests occurred across Southern California as part of a nationwide day of action.
The show of force comes as huge rallies took the streets of America from coast to coast to protest against President Donald Trump. The 17-mile (27-kilometer) coastal stretch of the I-5 interstate between Los Angeles and San Diego will be affected while the Marine Corps fires live rounds over the route to mark its 250th anniversary in an event being attended by Vice President JD Vance.
Members of Trump’s Cabinet have accused Democrats of prolonging the government shutdown until after “No Kings” to show liberal groups that they are pushing back against the Trump administration, while several congressional Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, have called the protests “hate America” rallies.
This Saturday's action is one of roughly 80 actions happening around the greater L.A. area. It’s the same old story—a fight against rent hikes, militarized police, and ICE raids. Our city doesn't trust the leaders that sit on thrones,
Large crowds are expected to protest President Trump and his policies at 'No Kings' events. Some on the right are framing them as 'Hate America' rallies.
Thousands of 'No Kings' protests are planned across the country for Saturday, October 18th. Indivisble Co-Director Ezra Levin joins Alex Witt to preview the protests, which he says are expected to be 'quadruple' the size of the single largest protest during President Trump's first term.
