Hurricane Imelda upgraded from a tropical storm to a Category 1 hurricane in the North Atlantic on Tuesday morning.

Millions of people across Jamaica are hunkering down and praying for safety from Hurricane Melissa, which made landfall on Tuesday around 1 p.m. with winds of 185 mph.

Little change is expected for Tropical Storm Lorenzo in the next few days, the National Hurricane Center said Tuesday. Located about 1,330 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, Lorenzo is moving toward the northwest at about 15 mph.
