A Louisiana House committee advanced an updated congressional map after hours of testimony opposing it. Now a fight could be brewing amongst Republican legislators over how to draw the lines.

The new congressional map splits Terrebonne, with part of the parish represented by Republican Majority Leader Steve Scalise and the other by Rep. Clay Higgins.

The new proposed map splits Calcasieu Parish between the Third District and Fourth District, which House Speaker Mike Johnson represents.
