The first quarter has come to an end and does so with Penn State's offense on the move. Devonte Ross caught a pass over the middle for a 20-yard gain on the final play of the quarter. Penn State will start the second quarter on the Northwestern 46-yard line.

Franklin was fired just a day after Penn State’s third consecutive loss, which was a 22-21 home defeat to Northwestern. He will join the “College GameDay” crew live in Athens, Georgia. According to ESPN broadcaster Dave Pasche, Franklin is scheduled to appear during the 11 a.m. ET hour of the show.

A new era for Penn State began on Saturday at Iowa, one without head coach James Franklin and quarterback Drew Allar. But some of the same issues emerged in a 25-24 loss to the Hawkeyes, the Nittany Lions' fourth straight at Kinnick Stadium by five points or less.
