NBC 7 reported that construction workers at the San Diego International Airport's Terminal 1 dug up a hand grenade. The grenade was later found to be an old inert training tool that posed no threat to anyone as it did not have the potential ever to explode.

The incident did not impact the airport's operations since the ordnance did not have the capability to explode, the Port says.
