Severe weather threat in South as wind, snow target parts of Midwest, East this weekend
It's not necessarily a major storm, but we'll see a little of everything across the eastern half of the country this weekend. Here's our latest forecast.
Friday will bring the first chance for severe weather to Alabama in 2026. And more of the state will now have to be on guard for storms. The National Weather Service on Wednesday updated its severe weather outlook for Friday, and it both increases the risk level and expands the areas that could see storms.
Two cross-country storms are expected to bring rain to millions across more than 30 states beginning Thursday, packing a severe weather threat for the Deep South and the potential for snow from the higher elevations of the Four Corners through the Central Plains and Upper Midwest.
A few showers and storms early, followed by more widespread rain and storms late in the day and into the overnight hours. Expect impacts to the evening commute and dinner plans Friday night and morning plans on Saturday. Highs Friday will be near 70.
A round of storms brings a severe weather risk that could produce hail and a tornado threat Thursday morning in Oklahoma.
