Melissa is currently the only active tropical system in the Atlantic basin. As of Friday night, the storm remains nearly stationary, drifting north at just 2 mph. Maximum sustained winds are around 65 mph—just below the 75 mph threshold needed to reach Category 1 hurricane status.
There are no itinerary changes yet for Carnival ships due to Tropical Storm Melissa, but guests should stay alert for potential updates.
The storm is expected to hit Jamaica, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, as well as Cuba, the Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos.

Tropical Storm Melissa formed in the Caribbean Sea on Oct. 21 and is strengthening as it inches north toward Jamaica. Expected to become a major hurricane by Oct. 26, the slow-moving storm is expected bring heavy rainfall, flooding, and damaging winds to Jamaica in the coming days.
