Nostalgia crept up on me unexpectedly the other day. I was minimizing a streaming service to open up my collection of local music, and found myself reminiscing about Winamp hovering on my desktop.

Maybe they were just easier to render in older GUIs, and it has just carried on. (and you couldnt call it windows anymore) Because it's easier to describe a square than some flowing wavelike shape.
