With the three losses, the Wings are again beginning to drift further away from an Eastern Conference playoff spot, as they did just before the holiday break, which led to the head-coaching change. On Tuesday night in Philadelphia, the Detroit Red Wings lost 2–1 in overtime to the host Flyers. After opening their four-game road spell with a convincing win over the defending champion Panthers, the Red Wings followed up with three straight losses, scoring just one goal in each game.

Rasmus Ristolainen scored in overtime and the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 on Tuesday night. Ristolainen tapped a loose puck just across the goal line with at 4:34 in overtime.

Joel Farabee’s goal at 5:21 of the second period was the only scoring through two periods. He fired in a backhand shot from the slot as the Red Wings were scrambling in their zone. The Flyers had the game’s only power play and didn’t convert.

What we learned about them is, there's still probably much to be learned, although Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss in Philadelphia gave the Wings a less than .500 trip (1-2-1). Patrick Kane just missed on a scoring chance in overtime and the Flyers came rushing down the other end.
