Live updates: Minnesota lawmaker shooting suspect to appear in court on murder charges after huge manhunt Almost 200 law enforcement — including members of 20 regional and local SWAT teams — descended on eastern Sibley County to apprehend suspect Vance Boelter.
Vance Boelter, the man accused of shooting two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses, is set to make his first court appearance Monday afternoon on charges of murder and attempted murder.
Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL) Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman was shot in her Brooklyn Park home, while fellow party member Sen. John Hoffman was targeted roughly 8 miles away in Champlin, sources told 5 Eyewitness News. A third victim was also shot, according to reports.
Abdulahi Jama Ali, of Shakopee, and Abdikani Mukhtar Abdiwahab, of Bloomington, were charged Monday in Dakota County District Court, Ali is charged with two counts of drive-by shooting and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon. Abdiwahab is facing two drive-by shooting charges and other counts for aiding an offender.
