Liam Neeson has criticised his Star Wars death scene, revealing he wanted more from his final showdown. The Naked Gun actor played Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in George Lucas ’s prequel Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) – but his character perished in a lightsaber duel with Darth Maul.

Acclaimed for his dramatic roles, the actor is earning rave reviews for his unexpectedly hilarious performance in The Naked Gun.

Neeson's turn as Frank Drebin Jr. in Paramount's reboot of The Naked Gun has reignited interest in slapstick comedies and brought new life to a classic franchise. The film's strong box office performance and overwhelmingly positive critical reception prompted speculation about possible sequels.

Neeson, however, is not to be counted among the rewatchers. In fact, the actor made a point of not revisiting the original films, which also starred Priscilla Presley (who you might just spot in the new movie) - though he did see them when they originally hit cinema screens ("They were a good giggle, he said. "Fun. School boy humor").
