The Memorial Day weekend kicked off with a multi-day thunderstorm and heavy rainfall system hitting the south-central part of the country, forecasters said.

Target appears poised to continue to handle the holiday hours the same as they have in the past, which means that shoppers will be able to use the store's regular Monday hours, which means the store will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Hobby Lobby fans are in luck because stores will be open on Memorial Day this year. However, store hours will be shorter than usual on Monday. Shoppers can stop by for some last-minute Memorial Day decor shopping from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Texas travelers preparing for Memorial Day weekend should anticipate heavy traffic on interstate corridors in the Houston area. The Texas Department of Transportation shared traffic forecasts for several major highways in Texas.
