49ers waive tight end after activating George Kittle from the IR
The San Francisco 49ers made a flurry of moves ahead of Sunday Night Football. George Kittle has officially been activated from the Injured Reserve list and will play in his first game since Week 1. Tight end Brayden Willis was waived. The team also activated defensive tackle Kevin Givens from the Injured Reserve.
This would certainly bring things full circle for Josh Oliver, who the Jaguars drafted in the third-round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Injuries hampered Oliver's first two seasons with the Jaguars and Urban Meyer and Trent Baalke elected to trade him before the 2021 season. Since then, he has become one of the most balanced tight ends in football.
The San Francisco 49ers activated star tight end George Kittle from injured reserve on Saturday after he had missed the past five games with a hamstring injury. Kittle went down in the first half of the season opener for San Francisco but returned to practice this week and is ready to return to game action on Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons.
