World number two Alexander Zverev has withdrawn from the upcoming China Open tournament, the ATP said on Tuesday, without giving a reason. Germany's Zverev played at the Laver Cup in Berlin Friday to Sunday but complained about a fever there.

He suffered two consecutive defeats against American player Taylor Fritz, at the US Open quarter-final and his opening singles match at the Laver Cup. Despite these setbacks, Zverev managed to secure a victory for Team Europe at the Laver Cup by defeating Frances Tiafoe.
