An avid photographer of the northern lights was in the right place at the right time to capture stunning video of the Aurora Borealis over Venetie, Alaska.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued several winter weather alerts for Alaska, with some areas expected to get up to 20 inches of snow while parts of the state are experiencing unusually warm temperatures. Alaska, known for its extremely cold and snowy climate, has experienced some rare warm weather this month.

A federal judge blocked the freeze Tuesday afternoon, though the stay is temporary and still leaves a lot of uncertainty.

A U.S. Air Force F-35 fighter jet crashed Tuesday at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska during a training exercise. The pilot safely ejected after declaring an inflight emergency and is in stable condition, according to Col. Paul Townsend of the 354th Fighter Wing. The crash caused extensive damage to the aircraft.

The F-35 appears to fall within only a few aircraft lengths of the drifting aviator before crashing and exploding. Notably, the jet’s landing gear appear deployed in the footage.
