NFL officiating is under scrutiny as the postseason field narrows and, especially, as quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs play on. The league could make additional adjustments to its instant replay system during the offseason to help deal with situations such as those that arose last weekend in the divisional round.

Whereas the Chiefs were flagged four times for 29 yards in front of their home crowd, the visiting Texans were called for eight infractions resulting in a loss of 82 yards. The volume itself was not the main gripe for the team afterwards, but rather the nature of some of the calls.

During the first quarter of the NFL Divisional Round game at Arrowhead Stadium, Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. was called for roughing the passer after delivering the softest possible hit to Patrick Mahomes.
