Monday night's NHL slate is surprisingly good for having only five games. The slate starts strong with the New York Rangers in a great spot against a struggling Minnesota Wild defense. Philly and Montreal are also in good home spots against defenses that leave much to be desired.

For Jack Hughes, the No. 1 pick by the New Jersey Devils in the 2019 NHL Draft, it was a breaking out of sorts at Madison Square Garden in New York. Hughes had his first two-goal game in the NHL and added an assist to help the Devils to a 4-3 win against the New York Rangers.

This season, Penn State is off to a 5-1 start. The Nittany Lions have swept Arizona State and Long Island University, but they split with Clarkson. They'll be back home on Friday and Saturday for a weekend doubleheader against Stonehill.
