Sixty-two years later, on the fifth anniversary of Lewis’ death, 80-year-old Dumas joined demonstrators in front of the Allen Street gates to deliver a speech of his own.
The “Good Trouble Lives On” national day of action honors the late congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis. Protests are expected to be held along streets, at court houses and other public spaces. Organizers are calling for them to be peaceful.
More than two dozen protests were planned across Arizona to honor the late Rep. John Lewis, a longtime civil rights leader.
