Monday's severe weather moving through Minnesota is creating dangerous conditions. According to the National Weather Service, a tornado was observed near Fairmont, Minnesota on Monday afternoon. The federal agency says it also received "multiple tornado reports" near Winnebago in Faribault County.

The upper Midwest braced Monday for severe thunderstorms with the potential for strong tornadoes. The National Weather Service said the highest risks — a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5 — were in portions of southern Minnesota,

It’s not very often that we see this,” one National Weather Service forecaster said of the risk level being predicted for parts of Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
