Cardinal Timothy Dolan welcomed Bishop Ronald Hicks to Saint Patrick's Cathedral after Pope Leo officially accepted Dolan's resignation and named Hicks the new archbishop of New York .

Pope Leo has named Bishop Aldon Ronald Hicks who, like the pope, is from the Chicago area and served in Latin America, as the next archbishop of New York.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan is looking forward to his next chapter as he steps down from his role as the archbishop of New York after bringing much joy to others during his 17 years of ministry.
