Zootopia 2 is finally here and we spoke to directors Jared Bush and Byron Howard and producer Yvett Merino about the sequel.

After Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and China’s Ne Zha 2,Zootopia 2 will become the third Hollywood film of 2025 to hit the $1 billion mark globally. The achievement arrives after 17 days of the film release.

This milestone also marks the first back-to-back billion-dollar releases for Walt Disney Animation Studios, following last year’s Moana 2. The studio now counts five billion-dollar titles since 2013: Frozen, Frozen 2, Moana 2, Zootopia, and Zootopia 2.

Zootopia 2 is nearing $1 billion at the box office, and fans are eager to know when they can stream it. The Disney sequel will likely arrive on Disney+ by late February or early March, with digital rental and purchase expected in late January following Disney's usual release pattern.

The Zootopia franchise is no stranger to riffing on and paying tribute to classic movies and television shows. The first Zootopia features an amusing Breaking Bad reference, and the character Mr. Big ( Maurice LaMarche) is a fairly obvious homage to The Godfather.
