PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic — The father of a 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student from Virginia who went missing in the popular Dominican Republic tourist town of Punta Cana while on spring break with friends said he has asked authorities to widen their investigation.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia named Joshua Riibe, 24, as a "person of interest" in the disappearance of University of Pittsburgh student, Sudiksha Konanki.

Sudiksha Konanki, 20, who was on spring break from the University of Pittsburgh, was last seen on a beach in Punta Cana.

A 20-year-old college student has gone missing while on vacation in the Dominican Republic, sparking a search that spans land, air and sea.

( NewsNation) – Authorities are continuing efforts to find Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student who has been missing for nearly a week while on a spring break trip in the Dominican Republic. The search involves joint efforts by authorities in the Dominican Republic, the United States and India.

An Indian American tourist from  Virginia named Sudiksha Konanki has been missing since Thursday, March 6, in the morning, when she went out for a walk along the beach in the company of five people. The young woman is staying at the Riu República hotel in the Arena Gorda area.

Konanki and the man were seen swimming together at the beach near Riu Republica Resort sometime before she was last spotted there going for a walk just after 4 a.m. on March 6.
