The largest campground at Rocky Mountain National Park re-opened this week, bringing a pleasant surprise to campers who just happened to check for reservations.

A limited number of Moraine Park Campground reservations opened Tuesday for a two-week test period, according to Rocky Mountain National Park.

The Alpine Ridge Trail is a paved, steep trail that starts at the Alpine Visitor Center, which sits at 11,796 feet above sea level. Visitors come to see the alpine wildflowers and tundra vistas, as well as the views of the Never Summer Mountains.
