Amazon is breaking up its Wondery podcast studio as podcast consumption moves to video and celeb-driven shows, letting about 110 people go.

In a memo to staff obtained by Deadline, Steve Boom, Amazon’s vice president of audio, Twitch, and games, said the rise of video podcasting has created “different audience needs” and requires “distinct discovery, growth, and monetization strategies” compared to traditional audio-only narrative podcasts.

Sargent is among a group of Wondery employees affected by Amazon’s realignment of its Audible audiobook and podcasting division. According to CNBC, Amazon will eliminate 110 jobs as a result of this reshuffle.
