When the “no kings” protest began on the Porter County Courthouse lawn Friday, two people began to argue with the crowd.

The federal judge overseeing the case of Columbia University pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil ruled Friday that he won't release him from government custody.

The court said it would hold a hearing on the matter on June 17. The ruling came only hours after a federal judge's order was to take effect at noon Friday.
