Recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) can expect their November payment on Oct. 31 since Nov. 1 falls on a weekend.

The federal government shutdown is nearing one month, threatening food assistance for scores of Californians and leaving many anxious over how a prolonged shutdown could impact their lives — including the monthly issuance of Supplemental Security Income and Social Security benefits.

Social Security benefits are a critical source of income for many people. Unfortunately, some of the individuals who are reliant on benefits may soon find themselves facing one of the biggest benefit cuts in history.
