Will Tropical Storm Erin impact South Florida? Here's the system's projected path.
Tropical Storm Erin officially formed in the eastern Atlantic on Monday morning, just west of the Cabo Verde islands. This system is expected to continue moving west to west-northwest at 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.

In the Gulf, Invest 98L has a low chance for development, before it moves inland over northeastern Mexico or southern Texas by late Friday. The National Weather Service in Brownsville, Texas, said regardless of tropical development, locally heavy rain and increased swells "will be a concern" along the Texas coast.
Erin will likely cause heavy surf and rip currents along the Eastern Seaboard starting mid-next week, but nothing in the way of rain, surge, or wind.
