ORLANDO, Fla. - Tropical Storm Melissa, soon to be Hurricane Melissa, is located around 155 miles SE of Kingston, Jamaica. She's expected to move westbound in the Caribbean, getting closer to Jamaica on Monday, before making landfall potentially early Tuesday.

Tropical update: Conditions ripe for Tropical Storm Melissa to rapidly intensify

Melissa is currently the only active tropical system in the Atlantic basin. As of Friday night, the storm remains nearly stationary, drifting north at just 2 mph. Maximum sustained winds are around 65 mph—just below the 75 mph threshold needed to reach Category 1 hurricane status.
