Caitlin Clark raised the profile of women’s basketball to unprecedented levels in both the college ranks and the WNBA, and Tuesday she was named the AP Female Athlete of the Year for her impact on and off the court.

In her interview, Johnson was critical of TIME magazine for naming Clark the “Athlete of the Year.” In Johnson’s eyes, the entire WNBA deserves widespread recognition, not just Clark. Johnson wishes the league as a whole were recognized instead of Clark individually.
