A current snowpack map from the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service shows the snowpack at 50% of normal or less in many parts of the Cascades and Olympics. That is not something we want to see halfway through January. What comes next? According to forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center, we can expect a 50 to 60% chance of above-normal precipitation in the next couple of weeks.
