The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is intensifying efforts to safeguard its operations and beneficiaries from fraudulent activities. Approximately 400,000 beneficiaries have been notified for review, with over 70,000 profiles suspended to date for failing to undergo the required review process. Sassa has taken a firm stance against perpetrators of fraud. A cryptographic breach in 2021 compromised the security keys utilised by Postbank to issue Sassa gold cards. In 2024, the agency
