Over 100,000 children and adults use Makaton symbols and signs, either as their main method of communication or as a way to support speech. It’s particularly helpful for children and adults with communication and learning difficulties and those that support them. We know that Makaton can help children with developmental language disorder to communicate by combining signs, symbols and speech to help develop language skills, understand and be understood.
