133 days on the sun ☀️ Newly released imagery from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) shows a 133-day time-lapse of solar activity from August to December of last year. This is the highest resolution image of the Sun’s surface ever taken. The National Science Foundation (NSF)’s Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope took the images from the summit of Haleakala, Maui, in Hawai‘i. In their announcement the organization wrote, "The images show a pattern of turbulent “boiling” plasma that covers the entire Sun. The cell-like structures — each about the size of Texas — are the signature of violent motions that transport heat from the inside of the Sun to its surface. That
