In the 1920s, when Joe Carstairs, the notorious speedboat racer and heiress, lived at Mulberry Walk, she was said to have kept penguins in the garden. The current owner, architect Terry Smith, commissioned a bronze penguin statue to stand there in memory of the penguins and her eccentric spirit.
